Team BowDoc Archery - Youth TeamTeam BowDoc Archery is one of the top archery training programs in the country and has produced many National, Sectional, and State champions (both Youth and Adults). Head Coach Jeff Sanchez has been recognized as one of the top coaches in the country and was selected to receive the 2015 USA Archery National JOAD Coach of the Year Award from the United States Olympic Committee. Jeff is also the Head Coach of the High Performance Archery Academy and trains many students (Youth and Adult) throughout the country including many collegiate athletes. Team BowDoc Archery is a registered team/club with both USA Archery and the NFAA (National Field Archery Association). USA Archery includes the JOAD program. JOAD stands for "Junior Olympic Archer Development" is the official USA Archery development program sanctioned by the U.S. Olympic Committee. Our program can teach your young aspiring archers proper shooting form and technique for both recurve and compound shooters. This program not only focuses on Archery but also on building great life skills and attributes like Respect, Self Confidence, and Team Work. This program is great for both building recreational shooting skills as well as developing high level competition skills. All team members will be eligible to participate in local, state, regional, and national events. All team members that also join USA Archery are eligible to participate USA Archery Pin events. These events allow you to shoot to earn USA Archery Pin Rankings. Achievement awards (pins) are given out as a team member progresses. (More information about achievement pins and scoring matrix files are below). It is not a requirement that Team Members also join USA Archery. Team BowDoc Archery training sessions are held on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays at the BowDoc Archery Shop/Range in Mokena, IL. (Coach Jeff will meet with potential team members to determine which group is appropriate to start out in) All team members are allowed UNLIMITED practice time during our normal Open Range Shooting times. You must sign up for Open shooting time slots. Minimum Age for the Team BowDoc Archery program is 10 years old. Each Member MUST have their own equipment. Anyone interested in joining the Team BowDoc Archery program os required to first do begeinner and intermediate lessons with Coach Chrissie and then pass an evaluation private lesson with Coach Jeff. A meeting with the parents/guardians is required to discuss the program and the requirements of the program to help determine if the program will be a good fit for the potential member and vice versa. This meeting should happen before scheduling the evaluation private lesson with Coach Jeff. BEGINNER NOTE: For kids that are new to archery and/or do not have their own equipment yet, we offer intro lessons and a beginner program. This will be a perfect program for beginner students to learn archery, develop fundamentals, and try different types of equipment. You will not need your own equipment for this beginner program. This progression is required before considering the Youth team program. Minimum age for intro and beginner programs is 10 years old. Beginner private lessons for kids ages 8 and up will be available to teach safety and fundamentals. You should not buy any equipment for kids until the following have been completed: 1. They have completed the beginner program or private lessons and are proficient with all safety rules/procedures and the fundamentals of shooting. 2. It has been determined what the appropriate equipment is for them based on desired style of shooting. 3. It has been determined that there is a high enough level of interest in shooting to justify purchasing equipment. (There is always the option of coming in for open shooting and renting equipment). Check out the team photos shown below! Contact Jeff at BowDoc Archery for more information about the program and what it takes to join the program. jeff@bowdoc.com or 708-995-7391 |
